Why can ozone deodorize?

Odors are composed of molecules, just like any other bacteria and mold. Ozone releases oxygen atoms and removes odors by destroying the molecules, bacteria and spores that cause unpleasant smells. Ozone is a hightly reactive molecule and is very quick to chemically reat with particles that it comes into contact with in the air and on surfaces. The extra oxgen atom in the ozone attaches itself to other molecules, chemically breaking down their structure to create non-offensive molecules and eliminate the smell. This causes the original odor-causing agents to become substances that do not carry the foul odor.
